The scent calendar: which candle for which season?
Share
A scented candle is more than a scent: it is a response to a moment. The same fragrance that comforts us in winter can feel heavy in spring. Here is our scent calendar, the result of several years of observation in the workshop.
Winter — The season of cocooning
Winter calls for warm, enveloping, almost dramatic notes. The days are short and indoor lighting becomes the centre of home life. This is the season for candles that make you want to stay in.
Notes to choose:
- Bourbon vanilla, tonka, amber — deep gourmands
- Sandalwood, cedar, vetiver — warm woods
- Leather, blond tobacco, oud — dark, noble notes
- Cinnamon, clove, star anise — festive spices (perfect for Christmas)
Our tip:
A sandalwood and vanilla candle in the living room, a blond tobacco one in the study and a soft cotton flower candle in the bedroom: the perfect olfactory orchestra to see you through winter.
Spring — The season of renewal
Spring brings back light and lightness, and winter candles suddenly feel too heavy. It is time for fresh florals and green notes, like opening a window.
Notes to choose:
- Lily of the valley, rose petals, peony — fresh florals
- White tea, green tea, sage — herbaceous notes
- Bergamot, neroli, orange blossom — soft citrus notes
- Mimosa, jasmine, hyacinth — light white flowers
Our tip:
Spring is also the time for a big clean. Light a white tea and bergamot candle in the kitchen once you have finished, and the whole house breathes again.
Summer — The season of the great outdoors
In summer, we burn fewer candles (natural light lasts late into the evening). But when we do light one, we look for freshness, escape and a hint of the sea. This is the season for candles that smell of holidays.
Notes to choose:
- Lemon, mandarin, grapefruit — vibrant citrus
- Fig tree, basil, peppermint — Mediterranean notes
- Ozone, salt, sea spray — marine notes
- Mojito, gin and tonic, aromatic herbs — cocktail-fresh notes
Our tip:
A fig tree candle on the terrace table brings a taste of Italy to your home.
Autumn — The season of change
Autumn is our favourite season in the workshop. It is the time for amber, honeyed, lightly spiced notes that mark the return indoors. The golden light of October days calls for golden fragrances.
Notes to choose:
- Apple, pear, fig — autumn fruits
- Caramel, honey, brown sugar — golden notes
- Dry leaves, smoke, damp earth — earthy notes
- Spiced pumpkin, cardamom, black vanilla — pumpkin spice done right
Our tip:
Autumn also means the return of reading evenings and cosy throws. A golden honey and tobacco candle with a good book is simply unbeatable.
And between seasons?
The transition periods (March, June, September, December) are a chance to mix things up: a winter candle on a crisp spring morning, a summer candle in autumn to make summer last. Follow your instincts.
